Your website is ready, people visit and like what they see. Then the question appears: how do I charge them? In Paraguay there are several options and not all fit every business.
First: do you really need online payments?
If you sell services, made-to-order products or work with few clients per month, you probably do not need a payment gateway yet. A catalog with a WhatsApp button, where the client builds the order and you coordinate a bank transfer, works very well in Paraguay and charges no per-sale commission.
The options in the Paraguayan market
Bank transfer and SIPAP
The most used and simplest: you show your bank details, the client transfers and sends the receipt via WhatsApp. Zero commission, zero technical integration. Downside: it is manual.
Electronic wallets
Tigo Money, Billetera Personal and similar have huge penetration in Paraguay, especially outside Asunción. Very practical for small tickets.
Pagopar
The best-known local gateway. It groups cards, wallets, payment points and transfers into one checkout, designed for the Paraguayan market. Automatic confirmation, but it charges a per-transaction commission.
Bancard
The largest card processor in the country. Used when you want to accept credit and debit cards directly. The setup is more formal and works better with some volume.
Which one fits your business
- Services and made-to-order work: catalog or website with WhatsApp and transfer. No commissions.
- Store with many products: a local gateway, so you do not verify payments by hand.
- Courses or digital products: a gateway with automatic confirmation for instant delivery.
- High ticket, business clients: transfer with an invoice. That is what they expect.
One piece of advice before overcomplicating
Start simple. Put up the catalog with WhatsApp orders and transfers, measure how many orders come in per month, and only then add a gateway. Integrating payments before you have volume means paying commissions and complexity up front.
